BERKSHIRE health bosses are urging those at risk to get their flu jab.
By today the Royal Berkshire Hospital had not admitted anyone with the flu bug which is sweeping other parts of the country.
But Chris Cook, head of immunisation and screening at NHS Berkshire West said: "Don't under estimate seasonal flu. For those people more at risk, it can increase the likelihood of serious illness, such as pneumonia, or make existing conditions worse. My advice to them is to get the seasonal flu vaccination as soon as possible."
The jab is available to everyone aged 65 or over as well as and younger people with long-term conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, serious kidney and liver disease, and some people with asthma
Teresa Cash of the Health Protection Agency in the South East said: "Swine flu is part of seasonal flu now and we are joining with the NHS in attempting to get everyone in those at risk groups, to get a vaccination, but we are unable to provide a breakdown of the number of people affected."
