YOUNG thespians wowed West End audiences at a sell-out show.

Fifty-seven students from Theatretrain Reading joined 250 others from across the country to perform Rhythm And Blues at the London Palladium on Sunday last week, belting out Motown and Blues Brothers hits like Heatwave, Everybody Needs Somebody and Ain't No Mountain High Enough.

Student Jazmin Messer, aged 10, said afterwards: "The lights were dazzling and everyone had such a great time. It was so exciting to perform in front of so many people."

Another pupil, 14-year-old Sam Baxter, said: "This show was a great opportunity and a fantastic experience. It really gave you a insight into what being a theatre actor is like; lots of hard work but fun along the way."

Theatretrain Reading, part of a national organisation of dance and drama schools, is based at The Hill School in Peppard Road, Caversham, and runs classes from 10am-1pm every Saturday.

The centre's director, actress Tiffany King, said: "This West End experience will be etched in the minds of our students forever. The fact that Theatretrain gives all of its students regardless, of experience or age the opportunity to work alongside top professionals and perform on historic stages that have been graced by renowned professionals is incredible."
