THE cybernetics supremo who became the first in the world to hook his nervous system up to a computer is speaking about the impact pioneering technological research could have on sport.
Reading University's Prof Kevin Warwick is sharing his research today (Thursday) at the Cambridge University Technology Ventures Conference, organised by the university's Technology and Enterprise Club.
Prof Warwick, who hit the headlines worldwide when he implanted a neuro-surgical device into his arm to link his nervous system to a computer in 2002, has recently been working with Oxford neurosurgeon Professor Tipu Aziz. They are using computer methods to predict the onset of Parkinsonian tremors so that they can be stopped using a deep brain implant.
He will be talking at today's conference about the engineering advancement that "push the physical limits of human performance" and what this means for competition and fairness.
