Caroline Lucas, John Denham, the BBC's Sally Taylor, Chris Huhne and Nigel Farage

IT WAS prime political theatre when the parties sent some of their biggest hitters to woo audiences at The Hexagon.

Labour's John Denham, the Conservatives' Michael Gove, the Lib Dems' Chris Huhne, UKIP's Nigel Farage and Green Party leader Caroline Lucas were in town for BBC South's Big Election Debate, broadcast on Tuesday night on BBC One.

All five are fighting to hold their seats or gain a seat at Westminster, some in marginal constituencies which will be closely watched on election night - including Eastleigh and Brighton Pavilion but also Buckingham where Mr Farage is attempting to unseat Tory Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow.
