MICKLANDS Pre-school's new interactive garden was given a grand opening last week.
The grounds of the pre-school, off All Hallows Road, Caversham, have been been given a £15,000 revamp.
It now includes permanent musical instruments, an amphitheatre, sensory garden, a shaded sand pit and the focal point - a covered area to be used as a classroom throughout the year.
It is hoped the revamp, funded by the Early Year and Extended Services department of Reading Borough Council, will encourage and promote learning through outdoor play.
Supervisor Emma Kemp said: "Obviously on warm days children will be able to sit at tables and participate in activities in the outdoor classroom.
"The area will be used differently in adverse weather, in a more sensory way, for example to listening to the rain without getting soaking wet!"
