BERKSHIRE residents can nominate their local postie as a community hero - and put themselves in the running for the delivery of a £1,000 holiday.
Royal Mail is looking for 'first class' stories about postmen and women to enter in the First Class People Award for bravery, community, and fundraising.
Every customer who sends in a nomination for the three categories will be entered into a prize draw to win holiday vouchers.
Royal Mail's regional operations director Rob Jenson said: "Because our people make daily deliveries, to all 28 million addresses in the UK, they are often first at the scene in house fires, road accidents, and robberies and they instinctively get involved."
"It is these people, who help local people with their acts of kindness, or voluntary work that we want to hear about, as well as the incredible feats of bravery our postmen and women perform each year."
There are regional awards for postmen who raise money for charity, have performed a public-spirited act or dealt with an emergency while doing their deliveries. Every postman or woman who is shortlisted receives £100 with the regional winner receiving £500 and the overall winner baggging £3,000 in holiday vouchers.
Customers should explain what makes their postman or woman special and include contact details and a brief description of the person if the name is unknown. Send nominations to: Patrick O'Neill, 1st Class People Awards, Royal Mail, 100 Victoria Embankment, London EC4Y 0HQ, or email nominations@royalmail.com
The closing date is Friday, March 19, and the customer prize draw will take place on Monday, March 22.
