A 24-YEAR-OLD man has died from serious head injuries five days after he was found lying in the road at a busy town centre roundabout.

Marek Szewczyk from Body Road, Reading, died in Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital on Wednesday.

Police discovered him while on patrol at the Castle Street roundabout shortly after 10.15pm on Friday, February 26.

Detectives have scoured the area for clues but are calling for more witnesses to come forward.

Reading CID's Detective Sergeant Dave Turton confirmed Mr Szewczyk's death was being treated as unexplained, but said: "We continue to keep an open mind about this incident and how the man suffered his injuries."

A 26-year-old Reading man and a another of 24 from Tadley, have been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed to return to Loddon Valley police station on Tuesday, April 6, pending further inquiries.

Anyone who knows how Mr Szewczyk was injured or saw it happen is asked to contact police on 08458 505 505 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
