FANS of the greatest detective of all time can delve deep into his soul and come face-to-face with the demons which plague his brilliant mind during a new production at the Theatre Royal in Windsor.

The Secret of Sherlock Holmes tells the story of how the eccentric sleuth comes to befriend Dr Watson, who eventually becomes his loyal sidekick and companion in the battle against his arch-enemy and criminal genius, Professor Moriarty.

Through the course of the production, set in the detailed backdrop of Holmes' 19th century Baker Street Flat, we enter into both men's minds and learn how their sometimes conflicting personalities strengthen their friendship.

Holmes, played by Peter Egan, finds himself driven into drug addiction while he obsesses with bringing down Moriarty while Philip Franks' character, Dr Watson, is never far away to keep his close friend in touch with reality.

The play, performed at the theatre Royal last week, is both intense and light-hearted and has a dramatic twist at the end of the tale.
