MORE than 80 homes in Whitley Wood were without power this morning for the second time in less than 24 hours.
The lights went out in Harness Close, Village Close and The Maying in mid-afternoon yesterday and the blackout continued until around 8.30pm.
The streetlights were also affected. and one caller to The Chronicle news desk said: "It was really quite spooky because everything was pitch black but you could still see all the the lights from junction 11 of the M4."
But neighbours' relief was shortlived because the lights went out again just after 9am today and Southern Electric says engineers should be on the scene by 10.30am to establish the extent of the fault.
