THE heat is on as competitors put the finishing touches to their outfits for the annual Reading Pancake Race.
Teams will take to their marks in Broad Street at 12.30am today (Tuesday) and will need all the support they can get as they prepare to batter the opposition and bring home the much coveted Oracle Shield.
The annual event organised by Reading Borough Council in partnership with The Chronicle, is being supported by Reading 107FM, Peter Green, The Oracle, Bina Tandori and John Leiws, who are preparing the all important pancakes.
Reigning champions Broad Street Mall will hope to build on last year's success but with so much at stake it's shaping up to be a fiery contest.
Peter Green is offering a £500 prize to the team in best fancy dress.
