A YOUNG man was killed last night when his car careered out of control on the A329M near Reading and collided with a van.

Police today issued an appeal for witnesses to the smash during the height of the rush hour at 5.30pm.

They say the victim's blue Fiat Punto was driving in the direction of Reading on the A329M when it suddenly crossed the grass central reservation and hit a Bracknell-bound Ford Transit before ending up on the hard shoulder.

The Fiat driver, who was in his 20s and lived in Wiltshire, was certified dead at the scene, but the driver of the van escaped serious injury.

Police want to speak anyone who saw the collision or remembers seeing the blue Fiat driving in the Reading direction shortly before 5.30pm.

Contact PC Matt Woollams-Seeney at Three Mile Cross roads policing base, via 08458 505505 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
