REVENUE is creeping up on Reading Buses' temporary £1 fare routes between Coley, Reading town centre and Lower Caversham.
The cheap fare on the 27 and 29 routes, and part of the 24 route, has encouraged more passengers than normal onto the buses but current plans are to scrap it and return to the normal £1.70 fare on Easter Sunday, April 4.
Reading Transport chief executive James Freeman said: "So far the revenue is still below what it was when we started, but the gap is gradually narrowing.
"The intention of the experiment is to see whether there is any reason to extend the idea of a £1 short hop fare to other routes, or indeed the whole network.
"However, it is too early to reach any conclusions on the basis of the current experiment."
A decision should be made next month.
