NORMAL service is expected to be resumed at Reading's Royal Berkshire Hospital tomorrow.
Staff battled against the odds to make it to work this morning and others either stayed in the hospital last night or were put up nearby as the county was gripped by Arctic weather conditions.
Non-urgent operations and outpatients clinics were all cancelled today, but hospital managers hope to keep tomorrow's appointments as usual.
Spokeswoman Nicola Wesson said: "If the weather forecast is correct we will resume normal services but any patients due to attend the hospital tomorrow are welcome to phone and check with us.
"If we do need to cancel any services unexpectedly due to changes in the weather we will make every attempt to contact any patients affected."
She added: "We would also like to thank our staff, patients and visitors - and the other emergency services - for the good spirit and support they have shown over the past 24 hours."
