IF you are wondering what to do with unwanted pairs of glasses, David Samuel would like them.
Mr Samuel, managing director of Eyesite in Friar Street, has been providing new spectacles for 25 years but now he wants old ones so that they can help people with poor vision in developing countries.
Glasses which get taken into Eyesite are donated to Vision Aid Overseas and then recycled for use by people in poor countries who cannot afford spectacles or even reading glasses.
Mr Samuel said: "Providing spectacles to people who can't afford the cost of an eye test or glasses can transform lives. Being able to see properly could make all the difference to a child being able to continue education and to whether a person keeps or loses their job."
Frames are measured and cleaned by prisoners in the UK and then sorted by prescription, boxed up and shipped abroad. Eyesite is at 142 Friar Street.
