HISTORY fans took a stroll around Reading University's leafy campus to see inside buildings linked to key figures from the town's past.
The tour, around the university's Whiteknights and London Road campuses, focused on properties designed or inhabited by Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse and the Palmer family made famous through Huntley and Palmer's biscuits.
It was organised by the Friends of Reading University and spokeswoman Brenda Morris said: "It was a big success. Despite the wet weather we had more than 130 people turn out, so we had a brilliant time and the buildings were very, very popular.
"It was terrific and I think everybody enjoyed it because they don't normally get a chance to see in all the buildings."
The trail and children's treasure hunt on Sunday, October 11, included an organ recital in the Great Hall and finished with sandwiches and cakes in the Museum of English Rural Life in Redlands Road.
