PEOPLE looking to get back into work can get advice and tips at the Reading Job and Learning Fair on Friday.
The free event from 10.30am-6pm at the Novotel in Reading's Friar Street includes workshops and the chance to talk to a host of exhibitors from across the region.
It has been organised by New Directions, Reading Borough Council's learning and employment service, and spokesman Chris Brant said: "The fair is an ideal opportunity for people who have recently been made redundant in the current economic downturn and are looking for a new job with some advice and guidance along the way.
"Throughout October, hundreds of events across England have been highlighting the wide variety of learning opportunities available as a part of the Learning Revolution Festival.
"The Reading Job and Learning Fair is one of these events celebrating everything that's great about learning for pleasure and the benefits it brings to individuals, families, businesses and communities."
The event is supported by host Novotel, and the Reading Chronicle, which will award a prize to the best exhibition stand at 2pm.
Exhibitors include Jobcentre Plus, Reading Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and Reading Borough Council as well as Progress South Central, Business Link Enterprise Gateway Service, The Oracle, Synergy Fostering, Reed Specialist and many more.
New Directions and Newbury College will be running free WorkSkills workshops from 11.45am to give over-25s on job seeker's allowance for six months or more an introduction to courses beginning soon in Reading.
The topics will include volunteering, IT, retail, fashion and child development, as well as general information and advice.
From 10.30-11.30am, there will be a life coaching workshop with Reading CAB, explaining how the coaching can help with job hunting, career changes and redundancy.
Business Link Enterprise Gateway Service will also hold an informal Five Steps session on how to start a business from 4.45-6pm.
Visitors can book places in the workshops on the day and are encouraged to bring paper and digital copies of their CV.
