PLANS for a new block of 53 flats have been rejected because they did not include any affordable housing.
Crest Nicholson's one and two-bedroom flats would have replaced an old block of 64 in James Court off Bath Road in Southcote.
Ward councillor Pete Ruhemann told Reading Borough Council's planning committee on Wednesday last week: "This was a housing association building originally, it has a social housing background, and it is sad they are trying to get out of it."
