A TOUR of historic buildings on Sunday will focus on those connected with two of Reading's most prominent families.
The Friends of Reading University group has organised a heritage trail and children's treasure hunt around buildings on the university campus in east Reading linked to Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse and the Palmer family, of Huntley and Palmer's biscuits.
University spokesman Alex Brannen said: "Both of these families have strong associations with buildings owned by the university, from Foxhill House at Whiteknights - now the School Of Law - to The Acacias at London Road.
"This event is a unique opportunity to visit buildings on the university's Whiteknights campus not normally accessible to the general public."
Visitors can register and get information packs at the university's Palmer building before the event starts at 2pm.
It will include an organ recital in the Great Hall and finish with refreshments at 4pm at the Museum of English Rural Life in Redlands Road.
It costs £3 each, including refreshments, for adults but under 16s go free.
