A NEO-NAZI who was on the verge of a racist bombing campaign was jailed indefinitely at the Old Bailey today.

Neil Lewington, from Church End Lane, Tilehurst, was ordered to serve a minimum of six years behind bars before he can even be considered for parole.

The unemployed 44-year-old, who lived at home with his parents, Christopher and Margaret, was arrested by chance in October last year when police searched his bag after he was caught urinating on a platform at Lowestoft railway station in Suffolk and officers found components for two bombs.

After searching his house, officers found designs and further components for making bombs as well as many pages of racist jottings, some of which had been plagiarised from literature on the far right group Combat 18's website.

Lewington was found guilty in July of a series of terrorism and explosives offences.

Speaking after the trial, Crown Prosecution Service lawyer, Bethan David, said: 'Lewington had an interest in bombers with similar motivation like David Copeland, who used improvised explosive devices during a campaign of nail bombings in London, and Timothy McVeigh, who was responsible for the Oklahoma bombing.

"He had the knowledge and the will to cause destruction, injury and death."
