MEMBERS of the public can try their hand at all sorts of sports on Sunday at the Royal County of Berkshire Sports and Social Club Open Day.
The free event starts at 10.30am and individuals and families can call in to enjoy the Sonning club's facilities and try out the various activities on offer, including hockey, American football, table tennis, football, tennis, rugby and cricket.
There will be a bar and barbecue and Maidenhead MP Theresa May will also be visiting at 2pm to officially open the club's new multi-purpose all weather Astroturf pitch in Sonning Lane.
The opening follows two years of planning and fundraising by the club plus grants from Wokingham Borough Council, the Football Foundation, Sonning Hockey Club and the Berkshire Masonic Lodge.
The official opening will be folllowed by an exhibition hockey match between the President's XI made up of invited county, regional and international players, and the club's men's 1st XI.
