RADIOHEAD put on a stunning show last night as they brought an action-packed Reading Festival to a close.

Surprisingly the Oxford group opened the headlining slot on the Main Stage with their 1993 classic Creep.

A great mixture of old favourites and some of the band's lesser known material worked well and the added extra of spectacular lighting and on screen visuals helped create a truly magical atmosphere.

Playing just before them, Bloc Party returned to the festival for the third time in three years.

Lead singer Kele Okereke told the crowd that Reading was a special place for them as it was where he met guitarist Russell Lissack and formed the group.

At one point during the rip roaring set Kele was carried to the front of the crowd on a security guard's shoulders before playing their new single, One More Chance, for the first time in the UK.

Elsewhere Lady Sovereign's short but raucous set was watched by a rowdy Dance Stage crowd, which would have been worthy of the Lock Up Stage.

The Wembley MC's energy was infectious and showed why rap giant Jay-Z was so quick to snap her up.

Over on the NME/Radio 1 Stage the unique sound of Passion Pit was given a warm reception as were The View, Brand New and Yeah Yeah Yeahs on the Main Stage.
