THERE were no brakes on the fun at free coaching sessions to celebrate the re-opening of an improved BMX track.
The roadshows were held on Monday and Tuesday at the track in Waterloo Meadows, Katesgrove, with the chance to try out the new jumps and go on guided rides along the nearby towpath.
It also marked the launch of a new BMX club and plans to run more health and discovery rides from the park.
Helen Biggerstaff, Reading's Cycling Champion, said: "It is a fantastic facility for the residents of Reading and I'm delighted to use some of the Big Lottery funding to buy the equipment required to launch the BMX club and other cycling activities that will take place there.
"It is the perfect location for all the family and I'm hoping lots of people will be inspired to have a go."
Reading Borough Council has spent £29,000 on improvements to the park, including £14,000 on resurfacing the ballcourt and £15,000 on the BMX track, remodelling jumps and planting wild flowers.
It was funded by the Big Lottery Playbuilder scheme, aimed at changing the design of children's play spaces.
