A WHITE supremacist on the verge of carrying out a bombing campaign was found guilty of terrorism and explosives offences at the Old Bailey today.

Unemployed electrician Neil Lewington, 44, from Church End Lane, Tilehurst, stood with head bowed in the dock as he was convicted of five anti-terrorism charges and two charges relating to explosives and was warned by Judge Peter Thornton he faces 'a lengthy term of imprisonment'.

After the verdicts Crown Prosecution Service lawyer, Bethan David, said: 'Lewington had an interest in bombers with similar motivation like David Copeland, who used improvised explosive devices during a campaign of nail bombings in London, and Timothy McVeigh, who was responsible for the Oklahoma bombing.

'He had the knowledge and the will to cause destruction, injury and death.'

Lewington, who lives with parents Christopher and Margaret, was arrested by chance in October last year when police searched his bag after he was caught urinating on a platform at Lowestoft railway station in Suffolk and they found components for two bombs.
