A Lions" share of summer fun!
A READING Lions charity fun day in Prospect Park was a roaring success.
More than 2,000 people enjoyed the sunshine on Saturday while visiting the 40 charity and trade stalls, listening to the Spring Gardens Brass Band and watching the arena shows, which included clowns Tom and Tilly Turnip presenting their Whacky World of Tomfoolery.
Fair organiser Tony Mundell said: 'The weather was perfect for it.
'The kids loved the clowns" show, there was plenty of noise and water. Punch and Judy were very popular too , especially with the little children, who were all sitting down waiting for it.
'I know that most of the charity stalls all did very well and I had some very nice emails from people, one saying they had really enjoyed the day and another saying it was terrific and they wanted to come back next year.'
In addition, the Lions raised £1,000, which will go to local charities. Mr Mundell said: 'I would like to thank everybody who turned up and supported us.'
Other attractions included an inflatable caterpillar, rides and refreshments.
The Lions" next charity fundraising events will be a golf day at Reading Golf Club in Emmer Green on September 11, then a swim marathon in Bradfield on October 25.
