FIFTIES glamour hits Reading on Saturday when mother and daughter Chloe and Scarlet Fullilove unveil a store which takes customers through half a century of fashion.

Tiger Lilly"s vintage boutique in the Harris Arcade will stock women"s fashions from the 1940s to the 1980s, accessories, handmade jewellery and gifts.

Branded as a "sanctuary from the high street", Tiger Lilly"s is aimed at women of any age who want genuine retro clothing.

Chloe and Scarlet, who live in Purley, have long been passionate about fashion and jewellery and after successfully selling Scarlet"s jewellery on a stand at the Oracle, made a boutique their next step.

Mum Chloe said: 'We are both very creative and we have been looking for something to do. I though what is lacking in Reading is something that glamorous and different.'

Scarlet, 18, a former student at St Bartholomew"s School in Newbury said she can"t wait for Saturday"s 1pm opening. She added: 'I have been really interested in fashion from a very early age, just dressing up and being feminine.'

They expect Burlesque lingerie to be popular and promise "an array of the kitsch, the cute, the sexy and decadent and terribly glamorous".

The shop is decked out in retro memorabilia and the counter is a 1950s bar. Goods will be handed over in candy striped paper bags. Dresses range from £20 to around £50.

Scarlet said: 'People strive to be different. The problem with the high street is it all tends to be the same products.'

Normal hours will be 10am-6pm, Monday to Saturday.
