A DALEK collected money for a charity helping children with brain and spinal tumours and their families.

Six-foot Orion chatted to visitors at a miniature railway open day in aid of Friends Of Oscar.

Families enjoyed train rides at Reading Society of Model Engineers" track in the corner of Prospect Park near Bath Road and Liebenrood Road in Southcote. Dad Tony Nash from west Reading, who went to the open day with Naomi, two, and Sophie, four, said: 'I really like the friendliness and family atmosphere.'

The day raised £347 for the charity and representative Carol Harrison, from Didcot, said: 'I would like to thank everyone who has supported us, Reading Society of Model Engineers, the charity dalek and everybody that"s come along.

'Friends Of Oscar is the only charity that just supports children with brain and spinal tumours.'
