Man jailed for burglary and dangerous driving

AN EARLEY man has been jailed for five years for burglary and dangerous driving.

Waheed Ali, 32, of The Drive. was given a four-and-a-half year sentence yesterday (Thursday) for stealing a television in a house raid in Wargrave on February 27 and six months, to be served concurrently, for dangerous driving the same day.

Reading Crown Court also took into consideration a further 10 burglaries he carried out in Wargrave, Charvil, Woodley and surrounding areas.

He was given another six months, to be served consecutively, for a separate dangerous driving offence on Reading on May 15, 2007.

Detective Constable Ali Bagshaw of Loddon Valley CID said: 'The judge who sentenced Ali was absolutely right when he said it is the type of offence that affects the victim for months and possibly years to come.'
