POLICE have reassured residents after burglars broke into a house while a 94-year-old woman was inside.

The thieves took a handbag and purse from the living room at the house in Westleigh Drive, Sonning Common yesterday (Thursday) morning.

PC Emma Wright said: 'The occupant was woken up by the burglars but didn"t see them. Although this is a particularly distressing incident for the victim, burglaries like this are rare.'
