A CHARITY for dads has opened its first shop in the country in Tilehurst.
The shop in Kentwood Hill is the maiden high street presence of Families Need Fathers (FNF), a charity set up in 1974 to help both fathers and mothers seeking to maintain or restore relationships with their children after divorce or separation.
FNF's national chairman, Charles Kenyon, said: "It's a brand new and very clever enterprise in the sense that it combines being both a drop-in centre and a shop. We are thrilled to be on the high street."
Reading's Mayor, Cllr Peter Beard, cut the red ribbon and offered his support.
The shop, at 264 Kentwood Hill, is run exclusively by volunteers and is open from 9.30am-6pm, Monday-Saturday.
