Congratulations: Sue Bourne being presented with an International School Award by BBC newsreader, George Alagiah.
THE headteacher of Reading borough's special school has chalked up a double success by collecting two different accolades.
Sue Bourne from The Avenue School accepted an International School Award from BBC newsreader George Alagiah at a ceremony in London.
The International School Award scheme is supported and funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, providing recognition for teachers and their schools who are working to instill a global perspective into learning.
The school, in Conway Close, Tilehurst, is the first in the Reading borough to receive the award.
Mrs Bourne has also been named a School Improvement Partner, meaning other primaries and councils can use her skills as an adviser to help them improve their own services.
