A LITTLE girl's Christmas wreath which took her hours to make has been snatched from her front door by a heartless thief.

The six-year-old proudly put the wreath up at the family home in west Reading -but within three days it had disappeared.

Her 36-year-old mum, who asked not to be named, said: "We had the basic green wreath and my daughter put all the holly berries and ivy and lots of little mushrooms and bits on it. I tied it on quite tightly but when I went out the door to take her to school on Wednesday morning I noticed it was missing.

"My daughter said, ‘Where is my wreath Mummy?' I said I didn't know, maybe it got blown away. It's hard to explain to a six-year-old that people can be that mean.

"It might not mean a lot to whoever took it, but it meant a lot to a little girl who put her heart into making it.

"What a sad world we are living in, when someone can do something so meaningless as this. My Christmas spirit has now seeped away."

The Reading office worker added: "None of the other wreaths in the street were taken. The other houses have got gates and our car wasn't on the drive, so perhaps ours was an easy one to pick."

The little girl and her four-year-old brother had been looking forward to being in their school play the day the wreath vanished and their mother said: "I'd like the Chronicle to make whoever's responsible think about whose Christmas they might be spoiling."
