LITTLE angels have the perfect opportunity to showcase their artist flair to friends and family this Christmas.

The Reading Chronicle is running its annual children's Christmas card competition, allowing kids to create their own batch of festive cards, and the chance to watch rugby heroes London Irish at the Madejski Stadium.

Children up to 12 years are invited to stencil, sketch, stick and glue their own unique ideas using a host of materials including paper, card, felt and cotton wool.

Last year's competition, which saw more than 300 sparkling entries, featured red nosed reindeers, nativity scenes and Santa Claus getting stuck in chimney.

Our panel of judges will pick the top entries, which will be displayed in the Reading Midweek on Wednesday, December 10 and readers will battle it out to pick an overall winner.

Reading Chronicle classified manager, Linda Howe, said: "This is an excellent way of showing your child's artistic talents at this festive time of year. They get a little present out of it and it's very good fun.

"Last year we had fantastic entries that had little sequins sewn on and they were really beautifully put together.

"The children had spent so long on them that it was really hard to chose the winner. Hopefully this year's benchmark will be even higher."

Entries will be accepted up until Monday, December 8, and readers and advertisers must pick their favourite cards by midnight on Wednesday December 17.

Please send entries to Reading Chronicle, 50-56 Portman Road, Reading, RG30 1BA. Contact 0118 963 3031 or email lhowe@berksmedia.co.uk
