Father Christmas will swop sleigh for train

FATHER Christmas will be swopping his sleigh for a train at two open days this December.

He will be visiting the Reading Society of Model Engineers in Prospect Park, Southcote, where there will be rides on the miniature railways.

Organiser Jane Webb said: "The kids love it. It's a nice day out for all the family."

Rides will be running from noon on Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14, and Father Christmas will arrive by train at 12.30pm.

Although rides and refreshments are free, it costs £6 per child to visit Father Christmas in his grotto and receive a present. Tickets must be bought in advance and are selling quickly. Contact Jane Webb on 0118 945 1024 before the end of November.

Children must arrive at the grotto by 3.30pm and train rides will run until around 4pm in any weather.
