PLANS to install drop-off lockers outside Reading station have been rejected because of terrorism fears.
BT Payphones had asked to install the ByBox lockers in Station Hill, so that couriers could drop-off goods for customers to collect by using an access code.
Five ByBoxes are already in place in London, but Thames Valley police raised concerns that it may aid drug dealers and terrorists.
The applications were the first for Reading and Cllr Tony Page urged councillors on Reading Borough Council's planning committee to reject it to set a precedent for any future applications.
Cllr Pete Ruhemann added: "I can't think of a better place for a terrorist opportunity."
