MORE residents from all walks of life are needed for two panels which guide Caversham's police team on the issues most affecting the community.

Upper and Lower Caversham Neighbourhood Action Groups meet once a month and are made up of the people living in the areas they cover, including representatives from businesses, schools and Reading Borough Council.

Neighbours are welcome too, and there are a variety of under-represented groups including the young and the disabled.

Caversham Sergeant, Rob Pitman, said: "At the moment there are a few core people who come to our NAG meetings but we want more to come forward so our NAG groups can be more representative of the community.

"NAG groups are a way of engaging with the police and talking about the things that are important for your area.

"Unless people tell us about problems in their area, we don't know about them.

"The more reports we get about something, the more resources we can throw at it."

Contact the Caversham neighbourhood team via Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 08458 505505, or log on to www.thamesvalley.police.uk

The Lower Caversham NAG also has its own website, found at www.lowercavershamnag.com
