Police believe this woman intervened

POLICE are still tracking a key witness to a sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl.

The woman intervened when a man indecently assaulted the girl on a tow path near Thames Valley Business Park on Monday August 18.

The girl had been cycling along the towpath between Horseshoe Bridge and Wokingham Canoe Club with a friend at around 3.30pm, when the man pounced and asked her to go to the woods with him. Police would like to speak to a woman passer-by who stepped in, causing the man to flee in the direction of Reading town centre.

The man is black, in his forties, around 5ft 9ins tall with a shaven head, a distinctive gold tooth, and spoke with a Caribbean accent. He rode a blue bicycle, and was wearing a dark blue short sleeved shirt with a cannabis leaf logo and light blue jeans.

Police have uncovered CCTV images from Thames Valley Business Park featuring the woman and wish to speak with her.

Anyone with any information about the attack should contact PC Pauline Cameron on 0845 8 505 505, or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
