TELEVISIONS, tricycles and a bath tub were just some of the items collected during a community scheme aimed at boosting recycle rates and reducing fly- tipping.
Members of the Friends of Omer's Gully (FOG), West Berkshire Council and Sovereign Housing joined forces for the project, which took place in Burghfield Common today.
Residents filled up three skip loads of rubbish, which was sorted into recyclable and non-recyclable materials, while volunteers carried out a litter pick in the neighbouring Omer's Gully, which has suffered in the past from fly-tipping.
FOG chairman Jonathan Gibson said: "We did the same last year and it was a great success.
"This year has also been successful. It gets the community together, helps them to deposit their recycling and keeps the woods from being used as a dumping ground. Who knows, it may even become an annual event."
