SOME 2,000 were left without power this afternoon in Caversham after workmen cut through a cable.
Contractors working in the Gosbrook Road area made the blunder earlier today.
Power restored to 1,500 homes in the Lower Henley Road and King's Road areas "very quickly", and the remaining 500, closer to Gosbrook Road, by 1.05pm.
Southern Electric spokeswoman Morven Smith said: "Although power has been restored, engineers were still on site throughout the afternoon."
