PRIMARY schoolchildren from Earley showed off their IT skills at a national conference held in London.

The pupils from Radstock Primary School went to the British Education and Training Technology show, the world's leading IT-learning event, attracting over 27,000 visitors a year.

Eight pupils went with teacher Philip Griffin and support assistant Ann Jones, manning a stand and telling visitors about the UniServity system they have been using to share and manage work and information at school.

Before the exhibition, the youngsters created an online discussion forum to discuss what the school wanted at the BETT show.

Mr Griffin said: "We were determined to make the BETT experience a learning opportunity for the children as well as a great day out. Whilst manning the stand, the children were superb. After all, if you wanted to know about a learning platform, would you ask the sales rep or the children? The children of course, and they told it exactly how it is.

"They explained succinctly and clearly how they created pages and added to forums.

"They were positive and pleasant and a real credit to themselves and our school."

The pupils took along digital cameras and other gadgets to update their website throughout the day, so their classmates back in Earley could check in on their day.
