Budding actors Charlotte Stroud, James Ireland, Alexandra Reindorp, Carl Dolamore, Brad Stokes and Theale Green’s actor in residence, Jonathan Shelley, performed Vampire Hospital to two sold-out audiences at South Street, in the hope to take it on tour.
The play, written by Chris Lambert and Jon Shelley, is centred on a supernatural hospital for victims of all manner of creatures but most importantly to the plot, vampires.
With Twilight being achingly popular, Vampire Hospital is an amusing laugh at the preternatural-obsessed culture we’re in.
Not a difficult play to enjoy, the script was funniest in its quieter jokes, rather than those which went for the obvious laughs.
Dolamore presented a professional stillness about him, which although was lost somewhat when he dropped the incredibly convincing Irish accent, I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t make a career of acting.
Stroud’s character was initially annoying, but she soon came into her own and was, quite honestly, hilarious.
Stokes played his part well and although not the most outlandish, still added something to the play.
Finally, Ireland was consistently funny the whole way through, this boy was fantastic.
Once again Theale Green is proving its status as a performing arts college.
