A PHOTOGRAPHER is calling for a woman who spotted her father and brother in one of his photos to come forward.
The photograph, pictured, is part of a collection taken by former Reading man Terry Allsop and published in Newtown: A Photographic Journey In 1974, after he was commissioned to photograph each building in Newtown before it was redeveloped by his employers Broadway Malyan.
Mr Allsop, who used to live in Francis Street before moving to Ewelme, in Oxfordshire, said: “A lady bought my book in Waterstones and when she opened it she said the photo featured her father and brother – but they didn’t manage to get her name or contact details.”
Mr Allsop took the photograph while working as an architectural technician at the practice and believes it was taken in showing the development of new houses which replaced the original Victorian homes on the access path from Patriot Place down to Kennet Side.
The 73-year-old added: “This young lad was chatting to someone and I just took a photograph of him.
“I’m hoping there will be someone out there who might know the people in the photograph as well.”
If you are the woman who bought Mr Allsop’s book in Waterstones or can identify the people in the photo, get in touch by emailing alangley@berksmedia.co.uk
