READING town centre will be rocking this weekend as it hosts a music event for charity.

‘Are You Listening?’ Festival returns for its third year on April 18 to raise money for Reading Mencap, at various venues throughout the town centre.

Reading Festival’s main stage act, Pulled Apart by Horses, will headline the event on Saturday.

Frontman, Tom Hudson, said: “We’re really looking forward to playing Are You Listening? Festival because it gives us the chance to return to Reading where we have enjoyed playing the town’s other festival but with this one we get the chance to help and support the awesome Reading Mencap charity!”

More than 40 bands will play including Berkshire bands, Vienna Ditto, The Amazons, Sophie Jamieson, Matthew Greener, Quiet Quiet Band, Tiny Giant, Workin’ Man Noise Unit and Black State Highway.

A policy of the festival is to ensure that at least 70% of the artists are from Reading and the Berkshire area.

Venues will open from 2pm, with Milk, Pavlov’s Dog, Oakfor Social, The Turks and The Purple Turtle only admitting 18 and overs.

The Bowery District, South Street Arts Centre and Sub89 will also admit 14-17-year-olds.

Advance tickets until April 17 cost £12 and tickets on the day are £15.
