DRAINAGE work, bridge and barrier repairs will result in a number of overnight road closures throughout the borough – with some planned works lasting until the summer.

The Highways Agency today revealed proposals to close a variety of lanes on the M4's carriageways including major plans to widen Junction 10 of the busy motorway which leads into Wokingham, Bracknell and East Reading.

The works, which aim to ease congestion and improve traffic flows into the borough, are expected to be completed by June.

Other planned roadworks include bridge repair work between Junctions 8 and 9 to Wokingham's Junction 10 where lanes will be closed between 10pm and 6am until February 6.

There will also be Monday to Friday evening lane closures to both carriageways of Reading's Junction 11 and 12 leading to Theale where barrier repairs and road marking renewals will take place until February 20.

A number of slip roads will also be closed between 10pm and 6am with diversions in place.

These include the eastbound entrance and exit to Junction 12 closed January 26 and the westbound entrance and exit closed the following day, the Junction 11 eastbound entry and exit slip roads and access to Reading Service Station will be closed January 28 and then westbound the following night.

Junction 13 to Chieveley will be closed due to drainage works until February as well as Junction 14 to Hungerford where additional drainage works will take place until May.
