A VILLAGE vicar will stand trial next summer for a sexual offence on a child.
The Reverend Peter Jarvis will appear before a jury at Reading Crown Court in July charged with one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Jarvis, of Clares Green Road in Spencers Wood, will next appear before a judge for a plea and case management hearing on Wednesday, April 8.
The rector of Loddon Reach Benefice, whose congregation comes from Spencers Wood, Swallowfield, Shinfield and Beech Hill, was arrested in May last year.
Jarvis has been suspended from his position since his arrest and will not be able to return to his duties until the matter is resolved.
