A BURGLAR is starting a four-year jail sentence after a postman spotted him leaping out a window.
Albert Todd denied burgling a house in Tilehurst but was found guilty by a jury at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday last week. [19]
A judge immediately jailed the The 44-year-old, of no fixed abode, for four years.
Todd was spotted by a postman delivering mail in Kiln Lane at around 10.50am on Tuesday, July 1, jumping from a ladder which was propped against a wall leading to a first floor window.
The man fled but was arrested nearby and Todd was charged on Thursday, July 10.
Detective Constable Bethany French from Local CID said: “This sentence sends out a message that burglary offences are taken seriously and Thames Valley Police will conduct thorough investigations to ensure every effort is made to bring the offender to justice.”
