A MAN has admitted kidnapping a woman from a phone box before raping her during a “horrendous” attack in Reading 26 years ago.

Peter Anderson Holder was arrested in May this year in connection with the historic kidnap and rape of a 30-year-old woman in 1988.

The 48-year-old, of Tippett Rise in Katesgrove, pleaded guilty to rape, indecent assault and kidnap at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday and is due to be sentenced on Friday, September 12.

On the evening of March 5, 1988, the victim was approached by Holder in a phone box in Watlington Street who led her away and raped and assaulted her. He then drove her to Shinfield in a car before releasing her.

The crimes were investigated by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Review Team led by principal investigator Peter Beirne who said the team will continue to make every effort to bring criminals to justice no matter how long ago the offences were committed.

He added: “I am delighted that Holder has accepted responsibility for these horrendous offences after 26 years.”
