BUNGLING burglars were left empty handed when have-a-go heroes chased them down the street.
Members of the public pursued two men in their 20s seen breaking into a house in Upper Redlands Road, east Reading, at 5.45pm on Monday, August 6, causing one of the intruders to drop a rucksack containing stolen electronic items.
Police later returned the mobile phone, cable leads, a Nikon D90 digital camera and a tripod to their grateful owners.
Both burglars are white and escaped along Eastern Avenue towards Carnarvon Road. One of them is 5ft 8ins tall, of large build and has brown spiky hair, stubble. He wore a large black jacket and black woollen gloves. His accomplice is blonde, slim and around 6ft tall and wore a black fleece.
Witnesses should contact Detective Constable Karen Brown on the police non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online on www.crimestoppers-uk.org
