A BODY pulled from the Thames close to Caversham Lock on Thursday has been identified as Peter Bell, 84.
A member of the public alerted police after seeing Mr Bell's body in the river near Mill Road, Caversham, shortly before 9am.
Paramedics and firefighters also attended but the Caversham pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem examination has revealed Mr Bell died from drowning.
Police are not treating his death as suspicious and an inquest into the death has been opened by Berkshire coroner Peter Bedford and adjourned.
