Former Windsor mayor Catherine Bursnall visits Legoland where 1,000 jobs are up for grabs

RECRUITERS from Legoland in Windsor will be in Reading on Monday to offer the unemployed a chance to rebuild their lives by winning one of the 1,000 jobs on offer at the theme park for the new season. Reading Borough Council is hosting the recruitment open day from 9-11.45am at the Civic Centre.

Legoland is looking for staff for the park's 2012 season, which runs from March to November. The jobs are on offer across a range of departments, including admissions, rides and attractions, guest services, toilet and ground cleaning, security, retails and food and drink.

The council's adult learning and employment service, New Directions, will also be at the event to provide information, advice and guidance for jobseekers.

Legoland HR manager Martin Green the theme park offers flexible shift options, and added: "We understand the importance of flexible working.

"So whether you're a parent looking to work for a set number of hours or days each week, a student looking to fit work around study time or have recently retired and enjoy the social interaction of the workplace, then we have lots of opportunities on offer."

Reading councillor John Ennis said: "It is great that Legoland staff have made the effort to come to Reading to give local residents to the opportunity to seek new employment.

"This open day will provide hope and inspiration to many residents and a chance to take advantage of free careers and skills advice service from New Directions."

News of the job opportunities comes as unemployment rose in Reading for the first time in five months. For more, see today's Chronicle.
