A MOTORCYCLIST is in critical condition after being involved in a smash with a car in Thatcham.

The rider was on the A4 Bath Road, between the Floral Way and Pipers Way roundabouts, at around 7pm on Friday when his black and silver Skyjet motorcycle was in collision with a red Vauxhall Corsa.

The 40-year-old rider, from Reading, was taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital with serious injuries and is in a critical condition.

PC Melanie Todd said: "I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident. I am also keen to speak to the driver of a heavy goods vehicle that may have witnessed the motorcycle on the roundabout junction with Pipers Way just prior to the collision."

Anyone with any information should contact PC Todd on the non-emergency police number, 101, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
